What is a Chronic Illness?

A chronic Illness is a condition that has lasted a year or more which cannot be cured therefore requiring on going medical attention and adjustments to daily living in order to manage and control the symptoms (CDC,2024).

There are a vast range of chronic illnesses and and diseases, the most common being Diabetes, Arthritis, Asthma, Heart Disease, Epilepsy, High Blood Pressure, Fibromyalgia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), Chronic back pain and Mental illness.
